I've always been a creative person, whether it was through creating a vision of a cohesive youth music community in the Greater Toronto Area or designing the perfect mansion for my Sims in The Sims 3. That has culminated in the Knowledge Integration program at the University of Waterloo, where I've been able to let my creativity explode through the exploration of diverse disciplines and transferrable problem-solving skills.
But it is through design that I see the most potential for creating value in people's lives. Whether it is through helping ordinary Canadians navigate gig work at my TD internship, or working with a leading mentorship platform to design more efficient mentor-mentee interactions, design is the key to helping people live better lives. In my career, I aspire to be a designer that carefully considers the needs of marginalized communities, and leverages the strengths of diverse teams of people.
I thrive best when working in teams of high psychological safety, where everyone feels free to voice their opinions and there is a high level of trust, genuine care for one another, and communication. These are general principles I will always value in my career, regardless of whether I'm in UX design or another field in the future.
